In the immediate vecinity of Playa del Carmen is Xcaret (4km south), an incredible natural park. From Playa you can cross over to Cozumel by ferry. The ride takes 45minutes and costs app. 12USD one way.

Cozumel ferry schedule:PLAYA to COZUMEL: 6am, and every hour on the hour from 8am to 7pm, 9pm (not every day), 11pm COZUMEL to PLAYA: 5am, and every hour from 7am to 8pm, 10pm There are 2 companies offering the ferry service. Mexico Waterjets and Ultramar. Please notice that some days they do not provide the service every hour (usually the 8pm and 10pm are cancelled, from Playa to Cozumel). One way cost per person is 140 pesos, about 12US. |
